Why We’re Signing The Pact:

When my kids were born, I read a lot of books (my husband would argue too many books…) on the latest studies on raising kids. We made the decision to minimize screen time, with the exception of watching family movies when it’s raining outside (which has turned my children into ardent meteorologists). I’ve had so many friends with older kids chuckle at our attempts to limit screens and warn me that the smartphones are coming like an unstoppable freight train. While none of us want our 12-year-old kids scrolling TikTok 4 hours a day, none of us want to be the parent of the ostracized kid who is the only one of their friends not on social media.

This pact is our hope that you join us to make no social media until graduation and dumb phones the norm. We plan to get our kids phones in high school which have simple call, text and GPS capability (there are some great options out there–– see Dumb Phones). No apps, no internet, no predators, no games, no scrolling, no posting. If we stick together, we survive.
